SCS Global Services Gets 5-star Rating from British Retail Consortium

British Retail Consortium (BRC), an internationally recognized food safety standard, has awarded SCS Global Services (SCS) a 5 star “excellent” rating, its highest rating for certification bodies accredited to audit their standard. SCS, accredited to the BRC standard in 2010, has grown its network of auditors across North America to satisfy increasing demands for food safety certifications.

“We are proud to be recognized by BRC as a world-class certification body for their standard,” said SCS’ Technical Director, Heena Patel. “Our auditors are BRC experts who work every day to ensure a clear and comprehensive approach to BRC food safety certification for our clients. This rating, combined with our national network of auditors, shows that SCS has built an elite BRC certification and training program.”

The BRC rating system is contingent upon demonstrated excellence in:

Quality of written audit reports based on a sample of audit reports

• Compliance to audit protocols (how audits are undertaken and reported)
• § Auditor registration and compliance relating to training, experience and competence requirements
• Speed of upload of audit data to the BRC Directory
• Certification Body communication with the BRC

The BRC rating system aims to ensure the integrity and consistency of the BRC Standards certification scheme for all users. Rules and guidance detail the responsibilities of the certification body and auditors. Adherence to and understanding of these rules are monitored by the BRC Compliance Team. The performance of certification bodies is formally reviewed every six months.
