Del Campo earns Non-GMO certification
Del Campo Supreme Inc., joins the list of brands assuring customers its products are grown and shipped free of genetically modified organisms.
The Nogales, Ariz.-based Del Campo and Culiacan, Mexico-based Del Campo Y Asociados received Non-GMO Project Verified certification from Emeryville, Calif.-based SCS Global Services.
The certification acknowledges Del Campo’s long focus on environmental and sustainability efforts, according to a news release.
“Receiving the Non-GMO certification for our products is something we felt was very important to our company and our brand,” Juan Jose Ley Sr., Del Campo Y Asociados’ general manager, said in the release. “We worked closely with SCS on the Non-GMO Project Standard providing audits, and verifications in order to achieve the stringent requirements.”
By seeing the Non-GMO seal on packages, Del Campo believes its customers and shoppers will find value and product assurance of what the brand represents, Diego Ley Jr, Del Campo Supreme’s general manager, said in the release.
Del Campo also recently received Rainforest Alliance Certification and the ESR award for social responsibility.
Del Campo is a vertically-oriented third generation family-owned business that operates greenhouses in Sinaloa and Jalisco, Mexico, and packing and cold storage warehouse facilities in Nogales and Pharr, TX.
The company grows and ships bell peppers and roma, beefsteak and grape tomatoes and recently added t’mates cocktail tomatoes and sweet baby bell peppers.
